“I always felt very misunderstood. When everybody is walking in a single flat line, I have to walk diagonal. I signed up for this life before I got here. I chose all the challenge. I chose all the pain of my childhood. Then I thought that if I talked about real stuff, I could maybe one day be a songwriter, and feel those kind of emotions and not be afraid of pain. It's the connection that motivates me. I need to know that my pain is helping your pain. A long time ago I decided that no matter where I went, or what I did with my life, I was always gonna be very true to myself. I have always identified with people that struggle. Just being able to help people, that is the stuff that keeps me going. We all wanna be loved, we all want to be protected. We're all pink on the inside. We all bleed red, we all cry clear tears. We all put one foot in front of the other. We wanna have faith in our world. […] I think the human experience shouldn't be covered up. I think it should be lived out loud. I see in other people the truth that's happening, and I want them to feel comfortable being that […] I will do everything I can to open people's hearts, ears, minds, 'cause I'm not going anywhere. I've seen change and I have to believe that change is possible because if I stop believing that, then it's just a little too much for me, so I have a pen and I write, I write about that.”

-Less
This memoir explores the challenges one faces during an upbringing in which one may feel the emotion of “being of less” in an uncultivated environment. This type of socio-cultural landscape can either modify one's life with pessimal results or transform that feeling of less into an empowering action of motivation that enhances one's life through an optimistically favorable lens. Fulton Book’s review team has stated, “The author’s story will resonate with many readers; finding one’s identity can be difficult, especially today. The story is compelling and emotional. The sense of confusion is palpable. The manuscript is emotional, which can be difficult for a writer to relive; however, the author was able to deliver an intelligently written manuscript.” Throughout my life, the navigation of my paths accentuated those “feelings of less,” as demonstrated in each chapter. -Less is an ever-changing life story that would not only be a beacon of hope to those who experience similar challenges, but it is also a reflection of how one can overcome from the emotion of less to the elation of worth.

Substance
From disillusioned haze, a journey begins,
Breaking free from substances, where new life begins.
Through shadows and struggles, you'll find your own worth,
Unveiling the beauty that lies deep within your earth.
Like a phoenix, rising from ashes so gray,
You'll discover your strength, day by day.
No longer defined by the substances of the past,
You'll embrace your true self, free at last.
In moments of clarity, you'll see the light,
A beacon of hope, shining so bright.
You'll realize your value, your heart will soar,
As you unlock the potential you've had all along, and more.
So let go of the chains that held you tight,
Embrace the journey, with all your might.
For within you lies a treasure untold,
A worth that shines brighter than any substance of old.
Remember, my friend, you're worthy and strong,
And your worth will guide you, where you belong.
Break away from the substances, embrace your true worth,
And discover a life of joy, love, and rebirth. -

Trauma's Web
Within the past century, society’s perception has adapted over time, primarily due to several traumatic events that have taken place and significantly altered our ability to embrace and celebrate our individuality. Factors such as the government and big pharmaceutical companies becoming the norm in Western lifestyles have contributed to a critical lack of access to whole, nutrient-dense foods; as a result, our own ecosystem—our body—faces the highest risk of developing chronic diseases. Additionally, this situation is linked to the rising incidence of autoimmune diseases, which I believe can be viewed as the aftermath of unhealed trauma, especially when examining what occurs when our body physiologically experiences trauma from both neurological, gastroenterological and cellular perspectives. I make it my mission to continue my research in this area to help break the cycle of generational trauma, with a keen focus on the principles of epigenetics.
